Intense pulsed light (IPL) photofacials are the perfect way to address a variety of skincare concerns including rosacea, enlarged pores, broken capillaries, sun damage, and hyperpigmentation.  IPL treatments also work by accelerating the skin's natural regeneration process with resultant collagen stimulation.

Intense pulsed light is a nonablative, noninvasive therapy that takes approximately 20 minutes to complete with little to no downtime.

Four to six treatments are typically needed performed every four weeks.  Patients are generally very pleased with the results.  For those with severe facial hyperpigmentation or melasma, the results can be enhanced with application of topical hydroquinone and retinoids between treatments.

Cosmetic dermatologist, Dr. Margaret Sommerville, welcomes patients from the entire Washington, DC metropolitan area including Chevy Chase, Bethesda, Potomac, Rockville, Kensington, Silver Spring, and Olney in Maryland, as well as Arlington, Alexandria, McLean, and Great Falls in Virginia.
