A study from Stanford University published in August 2012 in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology demonstrated that broadband light treatment (BBL) changed the gene expression in the skin making it more similar to young skin.

Another study published in February 2013 in the Cosmetic Dermatology journal evaluated patients who underwent at least one full face treatment per year with a broadband light device by Sciton over a median period of 9 years (5 to 11 years of treatments). At the end of the study, the participants (aged 38 to 69 years) were evaluated by "blinded", unbiased observers and appeared NOT to have aged at all over the median period of 9 years! The actual median age of the participants at the end of the study period was 55, but their age was estimated by "blinded" observers to be 45 (10 years difference!).
